Fruitcake Cupcakes

My "conceptual cuppycaking" strikes again :-)
My son asked for fruitcake inspired cupcakes (had been asking since the holidays). Reluctantly, I went for it!

I think it's a hit! Can you believe it... comments from tasters have been: love it (those who already love fruitcake - yes there are a few in the world) to it's good (but, um, it's fruitcake so I don't think I like it... lol).

I made a spiced vanilla bean cake with candied cherries and pineapple, golden raisins and pecans. The frosting is a Rum Buttercream.
